The Annual Girls Only Trip to Sweet Home, OR!

The last weekend in August you will find me with my closest friends in Sweet Home Oregon for the Oregon Jamboree! It is 3 full days packed with Country Music concerts about every two hours this year featured artists like: Jo Dee Messina, Ronnie Dunn, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Collin Raye, Sawyer Brown, Lady Antebellum, Clay Walker and Darius Rucker...plus about 9 others.
We left on Thursday morning stayed in the Walmart parking lot in Lebenon Oregon, checked into our camp site Friday morning then did all the pre-concert essentials.
Motorhome water filled up-check, level-check, awning out-check, lawnchairs, cooler and bbq positioned-check, walk the 6 blocks to the liquor store-check, walk back from the liquor store (grab another bag of ice on the way past the store) -check, have a few drinks, braid hair out of face and put on cowboy hat-check, walk to the concert grounds 5 blocks away with your lawn chair, stand in line and go through the security-check...then mosey around checking out what booths they have this year-check!
Now it's time to sit back and enjoy some of Country Music's finest and the company of your girlfriends-PRICELESS!!! Then after 3 days of fun we headed home Monday morning stopping in Portland to go to Clackamas Towncenter Mall and eat at Olive Garden, YUM! But wait just when you think that all you have left is to drive a few more hours to get home you look down at the temp guage and you are overheating so you pull off in Biggs, OR to let the motorhome cool down. After 3 hours sitting there and the only person that insists on helping you out is the homeless man with the cute dog....well I guess help isnt the right word because he ended up breaking more then he fixed but with the water pump out he wouldn't have been able to fix it anyway. We finally convinced him that there was no more that he could do to "help" so he left. We tucked ourselves in for a cozy nights sleep in the Biggs truckstop parking lot and Val called home. Frank got up bright and early picked up tools and parts then drove the Mustang to Biggs in hopes that it would be something simple he could fix and get us on the road again but alas it was the water pump! No easy FIX!
So we battened down the motor home, towed it up the hill to the mechanics shop then the four of us packed our selves into Val's limited edition Ford Mustang (the Bullitt) and finished our journey home. But even after all that it was a VERY FUN & RELAXING TRIP!! There is nothing better then getting away with your girlfriends, listening to good music and eating good food to help you get centered again.
