Our Family Reunion was last week and even though we had our share of ups and downs I think that a good time was had by all in the end! But a few observations that will help you plan your own family reunion when it is your turn to be the host/hostess.
Keep in mind that many people attending the reunion will have traveled a great distance just to be there. So try to keep the sights & events you plan for their stay to be within a close distance to the reunion location.....I would say around 15 - 20 minutes. Most are going to be satisfied to just have time to relax and visit with family members you don't get to see very often and to have all the children meet their extended family. This builds in them a sense of where they come from and to get to play with their cousins!!!
Choosing the location for everyone to stay is also an important factor.....if you can have it at a camp ground, church hall or some other area where people have a place to set up tents, campers or RV's. That way you would have access to a common large food preparation area and larger bathrooms with more then one stall for both sexes. This creates a common ground for all to come together instead of trying to have everyone stay at your 3 bedroom 1 bathroom home because crowded conditions promote irritable people. But most important just enjoy the company of your family and RELAX life is to short to waste any of it being angry. I really enjoyed getting to see everyone my sisters especially it was very hard to see them go.
